DC and AC variable speed drives, inverters, arc furnaces and other non-linear loads are commonly used in industrial networks. These loads inject current harmonics into the power network, therefore, causing power losses, reduced life span and overheating of network equipment, malfunction of microprocessors – based equipment, erratic operation of protection relays. These problems can be avoided, by keeping harmonics between the standard provided limits, power factor correction and by reducing the losses. During the trainings, solutions will be analyzed on how to achieve this goal.
