EA-PSM Hydraulic software can be used for evaluation of the piping system energy losses, pipe selection, pump selection, pressure and flow regulation, calculate gas flows in compressed air, ventilation or any other gas distribution systems. Software allows to model water, petroleum, refined products, chemicals, refrigerants and other liquids.

 

 

EA-PSM Hydraulic functionality:

      • Hydraulic flow calculation 

Hydraulic flow module allows user to calculate hydraulic flows in any type of hydraulic network. Module uses Newton-Rapson calculation method which is most suitable for fluid and steady state gas systems.

Enhanced models of loads, diffusors and pumps allows user to draw and model any types of hydraulic network. The flexibility of this module allows to simulate heat transfer, water circulation, ventilation and other systems.

      • Hydraulic gas flow calculation 

The module allows user to calculate gas flows. Module uses calculation method which is most suitable for purely gas systems.

Enhanced models of loads, diffusors, pumps, valves and compressors allows user to draw and model any types of gas network. The flexibility of this module allows to simulate ventilation, gas supply and other systems.

For more flexibility software allows user to choose from various equations for pressure loss calculation. Choosing different equation allows to simulate networks of various types and sizes. Currently EA-PSM Hydraulic supports following equations:

      • The General flow equation
      • The Panhandle A equation
      • The Weymouth equation
      • Time-dependent flow

Load at EA-PSM Hydraulic software is divided into two categories – static and dynamic. A static load requires the constant flow, dynamic load demand depends on load characteristic. Dynamic load model enables  time depend simulations.

      • Pipe selection 

EA-PSM Hydraulic has a sophisticated pipe model. User can choose from the library of the standard pipe sizes and evaluate losses due to surface roughness. Software is also able to calculate and recommend optimal pipe diameter depending on user predefined permitted loss conditions.

EA-PSM also allows modelling losses in pipe components such as elbows, return bends or pipe unions. If required component is not found in EA-PSM library, user can manually specify custom dynamic loss factor that can be found in different catalogs.

      • Pump sizing 

In current market there are a lot of pump types and models. Pumps are integral part of almost all hydraulic systems. EA-PSM Hydraulic allows user to model and size any type or model pumps.

The main pump parameter is the pump characteristics. A work of any pump can be described by two main characteristics – pressure and efficiency coefficient dependence on amount of material that is flowing through the pump. User can model any type or manufacturer characteristics himself or choose pumps from the integrated EA-PSM library.

EA-PSM Hydraulic allows linking pump with electric motor. For full system model, user can connect electric motor through variable frequency drive and link it with the pump. This feature enables estimation of pump characteristic change depending on the motor rotation speed or motor slip. Using this link, software recalculates pump characteristic and adjust its operation point. It also calculates mechanical load of the motor, which can be used to estimate motor power consumption.

The flexibility of this module allows user to perform various task such as VFD, motor or pump sizing, operation point adjustment, pipes and diffusors sizing, flow regulation and etc.

Link between the pump and motor also is shown in Sankey diagram. Using pump motor linker allows to draw both electric and hydraulic Sankey diagram.

      • Valve selection 

Valves are integral part of almost all hydraulic systems. In current market there are a lot of valve types and models.  Even though valves differs in construction and regulator physicical operation method all valves can be grouped in two categories – two position and control valves. Any valve operation can be defined by its working characteristic. EA-PSM Hydraulic allows user to model and size any both two position and control valve characteristics.

Using EA-PSM Hydraulic load flows module user can select, adjust valves in hydraulic network to create required flow and pressure conditions. User can model any type or manufacturer characteristics himself or choose valves from the integrated EA-PSM library.

      • Flow regulation with VFD or valves evaluation;
      • Integrated CoolProp library which supports wide range of materials;

For various materials all EA-PSM Hydraulic calculations, are using CoolProp (http://www.coolprop.org/) open source library. Using this library EA-PSM automatically calculates  all necessary fluid properties according to fluid pressure, temperature, etc.

      • CAD, PDF, excel export options;

EA-PSM focuses on making report writing an easier and less time consuming task. Software allows user to export all maps, graphs, tables, pictures and reports. User is also able create his own complete project in the EA-PSM using “Project panel” functionality. All export option ensures highest posible quality results with no loss in data. EA-PSM also offers automatically generated report for custom modules such as protections or the whole newtork summary.

      • GIS integration

GIS is an EA-PSM geographical information system module made for a simpler and more adapted scheme drawing and importing. EA-PSM GIS is based on ESRI platform ArcGIS (http://www.esri.com/arcgis/about-arcgis ). There is a simple interface to draw hydraulic or electrical schemes – the base interface is adapted for uncomplicated use with EA-PSM, though user may create a custom geodatabase. User may create, overwrite and load any .GDB file geodatabase. The schemes can be transferred into EA-PSM environment and analyzed with simulation modules, also analysis results can be displayed on GIS map. This is very useful functionality, because the user does not need to redraw an equivalent scheme for simulations and analysis. GIS feature does NOT require that ArcGIS or another GIS application would be installed on the same computer.

      • ElectroHydraulic flow synergy and calculation on one platform

Combine electrical and hydraulic networks and solve the most important engineering challenges in any factory. Use EA-PSM for the calculation of Electricity, Gas, Water and Air systems.       • Drawing Sankey diagram

It is very difficult to analyze the process as a whole, therefore it is important to separate the process into general, more basic energetic factors. Having this information allows us to concentrate on the different parts of the process, and constitute them further if needed. The result of said method is a “tree” of an energetic process called Sankey diagram. Seeing the main energy-required processes and finding solutions to optimization become very easy once the Sankey diagram is drawn.

EA-PSM automatically draws Sankey diagram for both electric and hydraulic analysis calculation results. This diagram allows user to analyse the process from another perspective and identify problems in the technological process easier.
